Definitions:
1.) Travel - The movement of people for a variety of reasons by land/sea. A visitor Is a traveller taking a trip to a main destination outside his/her usual environment, for less than a year or for any main purpose (business).
2.) Tourism - Tourism is the practice of travelling for leisure. It can be a day trip or a longer trip and can go away and return home.
3.) Domestic Tourism - When visitors travel within their own country such as a family from Bolton going to Blackpool to see the Blackpool illuminations.
4.) Outbound Tourism - When visitors travel to another country such as a business person travelling from Manchester to Paris for an exhibition.
5.) Inbound Tourism - When visitors arrive in one country from another such as a young couple from Australia travelling to London to see the Buckingham Palace and other historic sites.
6.) Seasonality - The regular fluctuation in tourism demand over the course of a year. For example: going to Aviemore in the winter.
7.) Perishability - A feature of travel and tourism products "that which is not sold today cannot be resold tomorrow". For example, a flight from London to Barcelona with empty seats can never be resold, once the flight has departed.
8.) Intangibility - Travel and Tourism products/services which cannot be touched or held. Travel sells experiences.
